To help provide fresh produce, meats, dairy, special-diet, and culturally relevant foods to families across Pierce and King Counties, Fred Meyer recently awarded a $4,000 grant to the Making a Difference Foundation in support of its Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank, according to a recent MADF release.
The donation, made through The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, translates into 40,000 pounds of food for local families.
“Fred Meyer is committed to ending hunger in the communities we serve,” said Tiffany Sanders, corporate affairs manager for Fred Meyer, in a press statement. “Through meaningful partnerships with organizations like the Making a Difference Foundation, we’re helping carry on Eloise’s legacy in ensuring everyone has access to the nutritious food they need.”
Eloise’s Cooking Pot, located at 3543 E. McKinley Ave. in Tacoma, started in 2009. Over the years, the nonprofit has grown into a five-day-a-week operation, feeding about 250 people daily from a 300-square-foot space. The organization is now preparing to move into a new 5,000-square-foot building and plans to serve up to 60 people per minute.
