Kids can visit with the Easter bunny while their family gets free groceries and their taxes filed.

The Making A Difference Foundation (MADF) and Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank invite the community to a special tax/Easter event during the free drive-thru grocery giveaway on Wednesday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome.

This event will not only provide fresh groceries to families in need but will also inform them on the Washington Family Tax Credit so they can see if they qualify and even get their taxes filed that day.

Families are encouraged to bring their kids, who will get to meet the Easter Bunny while they wait in line for food. Plus, parents can also get their taxes done without losing their place in line. Tax professionals will be available to help attendees, and for those who complete their taxes at the event, they will get to skip the line altogether, saving time!

What families should bring for a tax filing:

  • A valid I.D.
  • Social Security card
  • W-2s and other necessary tax documents

If families attending the event are not ready to file their taxes that day, they can schedule an appointment for a later date. This unique event is part of MADF’s ongoing commitment to supporting the community beyond food assistance.

“We know that financial burdens can be overwhelming, especially during tax season,” says Ahndrea Blue, President and Founder of MADF. “By combining food distribution with tax services and a little Easter fun, we’re making it easier for families to get the help they need – all in one place.”

MADF and Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank serve 75,000 people every month, distributing 1.5 million pounds of food to individuals and families across Pierce and South King counties. Their free weekly drive-thru grocery giveaway at the Tacoma Dome provides essential food assistance to over 450 people every Wednesday.
