TACOMA, WA – Making A Difference Foundation (MADF), a leading provider of food assistance in Pierce County, is proud to announce the receipt of a $100,000 grant from the Gary and Carol Milgard Family dedicated to enhancing its Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank home delivery program. This generous funding will be used to purchase culturally relevant food and cover delivery costs, ensuring that the diverse needs of the community are met with dignity and respect.

The home delivery program, which currently serves over 70,000 individuals each month with 1.5 million pounds of food, including 2,830 home deliveries every week, is a critical lifeline for many families in the region. This grant will allow MADF to expand its offerings and provide food that resonates with the cultural preferences of the communities it serves.

“We are incredibly grateful for this support, which allows us to not only deliver food to those in need but to do so in a way that honors the cultural heritage of our community members,” said Ahndrea Blue, President and CEO of MADF. “This grant will enable us to continue our mission of fighting hunger while respecting the diverse traditions and tastes of those we serve.”

MADF and the Eloise’s Cooking Pot (ECP) Food Bank have been a cornerstone in the fight against hunger in Pierce County, offering a variety of services and programs to address food insecurity. The home delivery program, in particular, has been instrumental in reaching those who are homebound or face transportation challenges, ensuring they have access to nutritious food.

The grant will further bolster the organization’s ability to deliver not just food, but culturally appropriate food that aligns with the dietary practices and traditions of the communities served. This initiative reflects MADF’s commitment to inclusivity and its understanding that food is not just a necessity but also a connection to culture and identity.

The home delivery program is available six days a week by sign-up from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. For more information about the program, visit MADF’s website at www.themadf.org or call 253-212-2778.
