Project Dash, which is a DoorDash corporate-advised fund of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, has granted Tacoma’s Making a Difference Foundation $5,000 to help support MADF’s Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank’s home-delivery program.
“We are really grateful for the support from this Project Dash grant,” said Ahndrea Blue, MADF’s president and CEO, in a press statement. “This program helps many people who cannot access the on-site food bank due to health or transportation issues. But each delivery costs us $4.50 to make, which quickly adds up, so this funding helps us continue providing this service.”
All food and delivery charges are provided free to low-income households that have signed up for the program. Many of the deliveries are made using services like DoorDash.
Not only does the food bank serve 70,000 people every month, but 2,460 households receive deliveries every week, with 360 of them being military families at Joint Base Lewis-McCord. There are currently 710 people on the waiting list for the service, according to MADF.
