Tacoma-based Making a Difference Foundation announced this week that 75,000 meals had been donated by 1st Security Bank.
Part of 1st Security Bank’s mission is to advocate for community support and uplift neighborhoods through action on their behalf, a release said.
The bank raised the funding during an annual food drive. The meals will directly support the foundation’s food bank, Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank in Tacoma, which currently serves 75,000 people.
The food bank seeks to relieve hunger across Pierce and South King County by eliminating barriers to obtaining healthy and culturally relevant food, with no questions asked to those in need. All services provided at the food bank are free, the release noted.
“The Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank never turns anyone away in need of food,” MADF President and CEO Ahndrea Blue said in the release. “Currently, we serve 75,000 individuals and distribute 1.5 million pounds of food monthly. With the growing need in our community, contributions such as this are critical for those who need it most and ensure they will get the food they need. We are deeply thankful for this partnership.”
