The Making a Difference Foundation, a Tacoma-based nonprofit, has received a $15,000 grant from the Tilth Alliance Farm Team to help support its Yahweh’s Garden.
The grant funding will be used to purchase garden tools and equipment needed to operate the garden and to support continued community engagement and agricultural activities.
Yahweh’s Garden is a community-based growing initiative designed to help individuals and families get hands-on experience growing food while fostering greater awareness of sustainable agriculture and healthy food access, according to a news release from the organization. The project also supports broader efforts to address food insecurity throughout the region.
“We are deeply grateful to Tilth Alliance for investing in Yahweh’s Garden and believing in the importance of community-centered growing initiatives,” said Ahndrea Blue, MADF’s president and CEO, in the release. “This support will help us expand our capacity to grow fresh produce, engage volunteers and participants, and continue creating opportunities for healing, education, and food sovereignty within the communities we serve.”
