As you sit down to your bountiful Thanksgiving feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and assorted pies, it is important to remember that everyone else is not as fortunate as you are. There are people who will be reduced to waiting outside of a shelter to provide a meal for their families and others who are simply alone and adrift in the world, with no family to share the occasion with.

It’s easy to get bogged down during the holiday season worrying about things that simply aren’t very important. Perhaps a loved relative will not be able to make it for Thanksgiving this year. Or maybe a loathed relative is going to be able to make it! In either instance, remembering the true spirit of the holiday is what matters the most. Instead of complaining about what you don’t have or finding the fault in what you do have, Thanksgiving is a day to accept what is front of you and cherish it. At the Making A Difference Foundation, we believe that every day should be like Thanksgiving. You don’t have to cook a massive meal or invite the whole family over in order to count your blessings and appreciate what you already have.

Making a Difference Foundation is doing its part. On November 21, 2014, Eloise Cooking Pot Food Bank will be giving out 500 free turkeys with all of the fixings. Also we are providing volunteer opportunities to give back. Please join us November 18 to 22, 2014.

Whether you volunteer at a local shelter, purchase food to donate to those who are less fortunate, or simply clean out your pantry and give all of the foodstuffs that you aren’t even using to charity, any of these simple gestures can mean the world to a person who is in need. The feeling of personal satisfaction that comes from selflessly providing aid to people in need and improving their Thanksgiving experience is a reward greater than any amount of money.

The Making A Difference Foundation not only helps people in need, but it also helps people who have lost sight of what’s truly important. The Thanksgiving season is about taking a moment to pause and give thanks and the Making A Difference Foundation encourages you to look deep within and learn to count your blessings. No matter what is happening in your life, there is always someone who is in far greater need.
